Elaine Morgan

The Descent of Woman

A pioneering work in the realms of both feminism and the scientific field, though admittedly one full of unconfirmed hypotheses and sometimes overtly convenient conclusions.

Building off of the aquatic ape hypothesis coined by marine biologist Alister Hardy, author Morgan formed her own evolutionary theory, one that placed females in a more dominant position – a stark contrast to the androcentric, patriarchal view most scientists took at the time.
