Fermentation Crock
Fermentation Crock
German by design, this style of fermentation crock has traditionally been used to make sauerkraut, though is equally suitable to kimchi, curtido, and cucumber pickles. There is a moat for filling with water to prevent oxygen from entering the vessel during fermentation, while notches in the lid allow any carbon dioxide created during the fermentation to escape.
Made by hand on a potter's wheel. Handmade ceramic weights included.
Due to the nature of handmade objects, variations in color, texture, and size are to be expected and embraced.
Sold individually. Select size via dropdown menu.
Matt Fishman and Kate Gibbs collaboratively create functional ceramics which draw direct inspiration from the Bay Area where their studio is based, and reflect the local terroir in both a literal and aesthetic sense.
Made by hand in Berkeley, California.
