Synonymous with 'Craftsman' or 'Arts and Crafts' in the world of furniture design, Mission furniture has its origins in the English Arts and Crafts movement (not related as it may seem to Colonial Spanish California) and the ideas of John Ruskin and William Morris. It was a reaction against the clutter and ornamentation of the Victorian era.

Mission furniture is functional, simple, and well-constructed by nature. Its design and proportions reflect the restraints brought about by the alliance between craftsperson and machine.

Soft cover with both black and white and color photographs throughout.

Edition: 1980.
